Dartington Crystal make around 1400 item a day at the factory by craftsman that have spent many years at the workshop. The factory was established in 1967 as one of the Dartington Hall Trust's social enterprises in North Devon. It quickly became the most recognised manufacturer of simple yet functional glassware in the UK. Over the following years, glass blowing skills were taught to English craftsmen, working to an elegant, clean design ethos derived from Scandinavian roots and subsequently adopted by British designers. Many of the original glass blowers remained in Torrington and have been a key strength over the years in developing Dartington Crystal into the leading name in contemporary style English crystal.
